Dear resident of Live&Be Kerkrade,

Each year there is a possibility for the lessor to increase the rent, as per regulation from the Dutch government via the ‘Huurcommissie’. This increase varies between 2-4% each year. The past year the increase for current lease agreements was maximized at 2.3%. For new tenants the increase was a lot higher, varying from 3-6%.

Last year Live&Be Kerkrade decided not to increase the rent, due to the impact of COVID-19 on students.

As the rent increase is usually guided by inflation (14,3% as per CPI: consumentenprijsindex), a large increase is expected for next year in 2023. However, Live&Be Kerkrade decided again to not implement this increase. This means that your rent will not be increased in 2023 and it will stay at its current level.

We fully realize the difficult situation students may be in as a result of the high inflation and instable economy. By informing you about this now already, we are hoping to give you some more comfort and clarity about your financial situation.
